Welcome to paradise! Bali!

Bali claims to be paradise on earth. There is everything from hills, mountains through sandy beaches, volcanic hillside to incredible green rice terraces. The landscape is dotted with temple and each day is punctuate with religious rituals. Bali is Hindu island which belongs to the most Muslim populated country in the world. Their Hindu religion has more common with the ancient form than in modern India today. Even Balinese people admit that Hindu is very difficult religion as they practice it a lot more than any other country.

We arrived to Denpasar Airport from Kolkata, India (having stopover in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on our way). We chose that way as it was more convenient for us and much cheaper. In Bali itself we hired a car with our lovely driver Warto, who was with us sometimes even 12h a day. We highly recommend to anyone Perama Tours. Balinese people are the most welcoming people we have ever met!

First day we decided to see more of Bali than busy life in Kuta. We headed to Goa Gajah, known as Elephant Cave, Hindu archaeological site. Goa Gajah is not only a mysterious cave but also relics, rice paddies, ancient bathing pools, stone steps and gardens surrounding it.

The entrance looks like a demonic mouth.

Bathing pools.
Very small inside. Above worship area in honor of Shiva.
We decided to explore more of it.

We went down after a Balinese man into a shady valley, who really wanted to show us remains of Buddhist temple...

...and small charming waterfall.

That's only beginning of our journey through Bali.
