Innsbruck - the Capital of the Alps

Innsbruck, Austria  see more

As soon as we landed in Innsbruck we got ourselves Innsbruck Card, which allowed us free use of public transport, free entrances to all Insbruck sighs, free funicular one-time ascent&descent to Nordkette, Patscherkofel and Axamer Lizum (which unfortunately was closed when we were there due to renovation) and free entrance to Swarovski Kristallwelten. It's valid for 24/48/72 h = 31, 39, 45 euro. More information about Innsbruck card you get here.

Was opened in 1995 to celebrate Swarovski's 100th birthday, you can enjoy 14 Chambers of Wonder.

Swarowski Kristallwelten in Wattens. You can get there from Innsbruck city centre by Kristallwelten shuttle bus which leaves Innsbruck 4 times a day at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm; Bus itself takes around 25 mins.

After exhibition you can enjoy shopping in Swarovski world.
Maria Theresien Strasse with Anna column, main square in the city.
It's very beautiful if the weather is nice and you can see mountain behind the square and the column.

It's very easy to enjoy Innsbruck on foot, specially the walk by the river Inn.
Colourful houses on the riverside, one of them was our hotel.
Golden Roof was given for renovation while we were there. Unlucky us...
Love those cosy chairs in one of the restaurants.

Stunning view over the city roofs from the City Tower
After sightseeing Innsbruck we took train to our next destination in Austria...
